چکیده
the uterus and appendages was the direct result of gonorrhoea ; that the condition was very intractable to treatment; that it often remained latent for months or years before causing severe complications; that it led to subsequent sterility; and that where pregnancy did occur in association with it, the subsequent labour was often followed by sepsis. Following on the discovery of the gonococcus by Neisser2 in 1879, many of the clinical observations of Noeggerath were confirmed, and the ^etiological relationship between the initial gonorrhoea and the later salpingitis, oophoritis, and pelvic peritonitis established. With this knowledge available for the past fifty years, it is remarkable that there are an appreciable number of practising physicians and surgeons who still consider and treat gonococcal infection in the female as a vaginal lesion only, and rarely examine any other part of the genital tract for diagnostic information.

Treatment of Fallopian Tubes Obstruction in an Infertile Woman using Iranian Traditional Medicine
Background: Infertility is a common complaint today with many causes in men and women. Tubal factor is one of the most important causes among females. Tubal disorders with a prevalence of over 14% are the most common complications of pelvic inflammation and infection incidence in women. Case Presentation: A 28-year-old female patient, married for 5 years ...
متن کاملupper genital tract infection : A review
Upper genital tract infection causes inflammation in multiple organs such as endometrium, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and pelvic peritoneum. This type of disease is caused due to infection with cervical pathogens, such as Neisseria gonorrhea, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, bacterial vaginosis pathogens, and respiratory pathogens. The pathogens which involve the respiratory system a...
متن کاملA lytic transglycosylase of Neisseria gonorrhoeae is involved in peptidoglycan-derived cytotoxin production.
Neisseria gonorrhoeae releases soluble fragments of peptidoglycan during growth. These molecules are implicated in the pathogenesis of various forms of gonococcal infection. A major peptidoglycan fragment released by gonococci is identical to the tracheal cytotoxin of Bordetella pertussis and has been shown to kill ciliated fallopian tube cells in organ culture. Previous studies indicated that ...
متن کاملNitric oxide is not involved in Neisseria gonorrhoeae-induced cellular damage of human Fallopian tubes in vitro.
In the present study, we investigated whether cellular damage, as demonstrated by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release in the human fallopian tube (FT) infected by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Ngo), correlated with high levels of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) mRNA and enzyme activity. Infection with Ngo induced a significant increase (~35-fold) in mRNA transcripts of the inducible isoform of NOS. Parado...
متن کاملExpression of proinflammatory cytokines and receptors by human fallopian tubes in organ culture following challenge with Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Infection of the Fallopian tubes (FT) by Neisseria gonorrhoeae can lead to acute salpingitis, an inflammatory condition, which is a major cause of infertility. Challenge of explants of human FT with gonococci induced mRNA expression and protein secretion for the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-1alpha, IL-1beta, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) but not for granulocyte-macro...
